Did you see the 135° sitting angle?
In my humble opinion, sitting like that may reduce the strain on your back, but look at the angle of the neck. Ouch!!! Also, I don’t know who could work at a computer sitting at that angle. I couldn’t. Sitting at that angle would only be appropriate in a recliner with a proper headrest while you’re watching a movie or relaxing – definitely not while you’re working.
It is especially concerning news that sitting is killing you if you have fibromyalgia. Most of us have difficulty standing for very long, so we sit. A lot. On the other hand, sitting too much will increase your stiffness, and sitting with bad posture will definitely add to your pain. We have to find a balance between resting our sore, achy muscles and maintaining a healthy level of activity. It’s hard to do.
Whether you’re stuck at a desk all day or your fibromyalgia is driving you crazy, you may be interested in trying a product I found called the Versadesk. It helps you work standing up, and the especially helpful thing for those of you with fibromyalgia, is that it comes with an app to remind you to get off your butt. Win/win! Read my post about Versadesk here.
Until next time…
